Eligibility

  • Open to all currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at Virginia Tech.
  • Participants must register individually or as a team (up to 4 members).
  • All participants must purchase a ticket:
  • Registration closes November 12th at 11:59 PM.
  • Participants must check in at the Opening Ceremony to be eligible.

Teams

  • Teams can consist of 1 to 4 participants.
  • Participants may form teams ahead of time or find teammates at the event.
  • All members must be registered and paid participants.

Project Requirements

  • Projects must be built during the official hacking period (8:00 PM Friday – 8:00 PM Saturday).
  • Teams may use publicly available APIs, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Pre-existing codebases are not allowed, except for boilerplate or setup files.
  • All submissions must include:
    • A GitHub repository containing the full source code.
    • A 3-minute demo video showcasing the project and its functionality.
    • A brief Devpost submission description explaining what the project does, the technology used, and how it relates to the theme.
  • Submissions are due by Saturday, November 15th at 8:00 PM on Devpost. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Code of Conduct

  • All participants must adhere to the Virginia Tech Student Code of Conduct.
  • Collaboration should be positive, inclusive, and respectful.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All projects must be appropriate for public viewing and follow university policies.
  • Organizers reserve the right to disqualify submissions that violate these standards.

Intellectual Property

  • Teams retain ownership of their projects.
  • By submitting, participants grant permission for Kappa Theta Pi and event sponsors to use screenshots, videos, and descriptions for promotional purposes.
